The field application is used for investigation and construction administration. The application was developed in VB.NET (Windows Forms) with a SQL Server backend. It integrates with AutoCAD (using AutoCAD's .NET and COM APIs). SQL merge replication is used to remotely synchronize the SQL Server Express (field) database subscription with the publication database at our office. SSRS provides all the reporting functionality. We would like to make the following upgrades to this application:
Upgrade to AutoCAD 2011 APIs.
Relocate certain UI functionality directly into AutoCAD interface.
Deploy on tablet computers running Windows 7 (currently ruggedized laptops are used running Windows XP).
Integrate onboard webcam with application using WIA (currently using USB webcam with WIA).
